LEGO My Event!

A life-size polar bear, a miniature Eifel Tower or your favourite Star Wars character; just name it and Sean Kenney can make it with LEGO. The ability to take something one loves and make it a passion that fuels their career is everyone’s ultimate dream yet not everyone can do it. It takes a leap of faith, determination and a powerful drive to stay the course and be a risk-taker like Sean Kenney.

His passion is Lego and his life is built around it.  New York City-based Sean Kenney is a renowned, award-winning artist and “professional kid” who uses LEGO to design and create contemporary sculptures. With over 5 million LEGO pieces completed to date, his sculptures can be found in high-profile events, major corporate functions and venues around the world.

His work has been featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, ABC World News, ELLE, Wired and countless more.   Sean became a LEGO designer and builder after working in the computer technology field.

“I rode that whole dot com thing in the late 1990s and early 2000s, says Sean, and after 10 years sitting in an office, I decided to merge my Lego hobby with my skills in computer technology. I began building models and sharing stuff online with friends and fans, and people kept stumbling across my website and asking me to make things for them. From Fortune 500 firms to grandmothers. Before long the calls got closer together and the projects became larger, some using half a million bricks. With all of the Lego Imagineering, you would think LEGO was endorsing him, but he is not sponsored, endorsed, paid or employed. He just loves what he does; whether it is bringing a city block to life or to recreating a masterpiece.  Most of his projects start out as pencil sketches, many end up with serious engineering and in between, it all comes down to sitting down with a big pile of LEGO pieces and just figuring it all out.

LEGO has recognized Sean for his proficiency and granted him license to sell his LEGO art.  Since his start, he has moved from exhibiting his work worldwide into other avenues of LEGO building and expanded his product offering to custom-built portraits, wall art Furniture activations and children’s books.
