Produced by Fab Fete Event Planning Boutique & R5 Event Design, Carmela and Gilad’s Pastel Garden Wedding was among the best weddings in Canada in 2019. So spectacular, it’s been nominated for Best Wedding Creative in the 2020 Canadian Event Awards.
The directive was to plan, design and execute an extravagant lakeside wedding at a private cottage for 300 guests that would emulate a rich and luxurious garden like the Ville D’este Gardens in Italy.
Using a palette of warm pastels with traces of gold, rustic décor, vivid florals and unique greenery, the design team successfully simulated a garden-themed vibe that blended with the cottage setting.
The ceremony space was set-up on the dock with guests facing the vast lake. They built a 12’ft x 12’ft Garden Chuppah on a white vinyl-covered stage and used over 500 stems of greenery with grand candle-filled columns of varying heights. Rich brown vineyard chairs complimented the look. Once the ceremony began the candles illuminated the wedding under the setting sun against the starlit sky.
During the cocktail hour, alcohol-infused snow cones helped keep guests cool in the summer heat while they enjoyed gourmet canapes, a BBQ station and signature cocktails.
The reception was held in a large white drapery tent set on the tennis court. Custom hardwood flooring surrounded a white vinyl dance floor displaying the couple’s monogram with an elegant gold foliate decal.
To bring in the garden theme, 6′ x 12′ hanging floral structures in gold geo vases with twinkle lights were displayed all around the tent as the main centrepieces. Additional large 4’ft structures were custom-designed with pastel flowers cascading over each table and paired with gold-framed chairs.
The head table was stunning with its graceful mirrored top, gorgeous gold leaf finish and a 24’ft floral runner spanning its length. Behind it was a 24’ft custom archway covered in pastel-coloured flowers and greenery interspersed with twinkle lights.
With a unique twist to regular menu displays, each guest table was provided with personalized baguettes placed into rustic paper bags displaying the courses along with descriptions of all sharing-plate appetizers.
The custom wooden cake stand was engraved with the couple’s monogram and decorated with low garden-style floral arrangements and colour wash lighting was installed throughout the tent to create a blush-toned environment.
