Barbie Land stormed the Westin Harbour Castle Hotel in Toronto for an evening of whimsy, bold colour and pure fun for the holiday party of the year! The event was produced by eclectic events.
Released in 2023, Barbie was one of the biggest films ever made, and people flocked to see the film taking away inspiration, strength and humour.
Thanks to the collaboration of a team of industry experts, every aspect of this enchanting, fantasy-themed holiday gala was meticulously crafted. Custom designs were integral to the event’s unique ambiance, from the signage and backdrops to the bar decals, caricature templates, and the dance floor, all of which vividly brought the theme to life.
As guests entered, they were greeted by four hot pink, glittering carpets lined with live, luscious palms, a sure signal they were in for a genuinely immersive theme experience.
Tables were accented with white chair covers and a plethora of sequin linens in all the Barbie-inspired shades of hot pink, ice pink, blue, silver, purple and gold. Neon lamps were nestled in a stunning arrangement of florals that pulled the colours from the room into the designs for a fun yet elegant tablescape. Cruisers were inspired by “beach” and featured palm linens and floral designs inside hot pink Barbie convertible cars… and drove away with guests at the end of the event.
“It was refreshing that we had a very creative and open client who wanted to bring this theme to life. All the guests got into the theme and dressed in their own interpretation of Barbie or Ken. Everyone had a great time with their look,” said Lead Designer Carolyn Luscombe.
The floor-to-ceiling drapes, uplit in bold colours of blue, pink, and purple, brought boldness to the room, while an LED dance floor brought the Barbie Mansion backdrop to life, and various-sized disco balls hung at different heights gave visual impact and drama to the space. A diverse team of Barbie and Ken entertainers performed custom choreographed routines set to Aqua’s Barbie Girl, Ken’s Country Dream and an interpretation of “Dance The Night Away,” replicating the iconic dance scene from the movie and engaging guests to join the packed dancefloor.
Caricature artists provided custom-designed Barbie and Ken templates, and guests were treated to colour drawings to commemorate this spectacular night. In addition, three unique digital photo ops were created, featuring the infamous Barbie Box, a Barbie California scene with a car-façade sofa and Ken’s beach scene with umbrella, loungers, palms and more. At the end of the event, guests made their way past the fourth and final photo op, welcoming them back to the Real World.
