Fright Night at Costumes for Cure: A Haunted Halloween Experience

Over 500 of Montreal’s elite stepped into a world of horror and spectacle at Costumes for Cure, the city’s most electrifying Halloween event. Held at MELS 3, this year’s edition produced and designed by Total Events, dubbed “Fright Night”, was a fully immersive horror experience supporting the CURE Foundation in its fight against breast cancer.

Transforming a soundstage into a haunted world isn’t easy, but Total Events turned MELS 3 into a nightmare guests couldn’t look away from. From the moment attendees arrived, they were pulled into a living horror film. The entrance? A nod to The Shining, where twin girls eerily welcomed guests at a coat check styled after the Overlook Hotel. From there, a moonlit labyrinth of grass walls set the stage for the unexpected, every twist hiding jump-scares and eerie figures lurking in the shadows.

As guests navigated the twisted pathways, they were corralled into a nightmarish asylum, where a zombie nurse locked them inside. Flickering neon lights, blood-stained surgical tools, and unsettling “specimens” in jars created a disorienting atmosphere, made even more chilling by asylum “patients” who moved unpredictably through the space.

Then came the Scream Tunnel, a passageway where demonic hands pressed through elastic walls, reaching, clawing, and making every step forward feel like a descent into madness.

Finally, the VIP lounge offered a ghostly reprieve, styled as a decaying mansion with grand chandeliers, dusty windows, and haunted portraits that seemed to watch every move. The final stop? In the main party space, where torn fabrics draped from the ceiling, holographic spirits floated overhead, and DJ duo The Neighbours kept the energy pulsing.

Costumes for Cure isn’t just about spine-chilling entertainment. Every ticket sold and every dollar raised goes directly to the CURE Foundation, fueling cutting-edge research and providing crucial support for those affected by breast cancer. By blending high-impact event design with philanthropy, this annual soirée has become a must-attend for those who love Halloween and believe in making a difference.

The devil was in the details. From a crime scene leading to the bathrooms (complete with eerie red-stained walls) to a DJ booth disguised as a blood-splattered construction site, every element was carefully curated to deepen the theme. The final exit, a dimly lit hallway leading to a single backlit doorway, offered one last cinematic moment, ensuring that guests left with chills still running down their spines.

Montreal has no shortage of Halloween events, but Costumes for Cure, produced and designed by Total Events, one of Montreal’s premier agencies sets itself apart with its commitment to immersive storytelling, high-calibre production, and a cause that matters.

The scares may have been theatrical, but the impact was real.
