Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II and His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh visited the City of Calgary on Wednesday, May 25th as part of Alberta’s Centennial Celebration. Ken Kristoffersen CEO of XV Events, current Canadian Event Producer of the Year (Star Awards), and Carter McCrae events were hired to assist the Protocol Committee at the City of Calgary for the Queens Royal Visit. Calgary & Toronto
At the ISES Esprit Awards in August, e=mc2 event management inc. captured the award for Entertainment Production under $30,000 USD for the Calgary Cares 2004 “Seasons” performance.

Table Talk, Calgary’s premier décor company, was honored with the award for Social Event Planning under $50,000 USD for their “Hip to be Square” transformation of the Banff Springs into a modern contemporary setting for a fabulous wedding.

Toronto’s Eclectic Events International won the award for Corporate Event Planning: Budget $0 - $50,000 USD for their event "Viva Italia" which they had 3 days from concept to execution to plan.


Vancouver
Sea to Sky Meeting Management Inc in Vancouver has been selected as Meeting Professionals International’s 2005 Category 1 (Meetings/events with budgets up to US$1,000 per attendee) Global Paragon Award winner. They are the first Canadian company to win a Paragon Award for their work on the Conference on Offshore Mechanics and Arctic Engineering. Sarah Lowis is President and CEO.


Ottawa
MPI Ottawa honored Chuck E. Schouwerwou, CMP, with the “Mentor of the Year” Award, given to recognize an MPI Ottawa Member who has demonstrated an outstanding ability to inspire and educate other Chapter members. Chuck received the beautiful Prix Prestige Award along with a $500 certificate towards continuing education.


Calgary
Calgary TELUS Convention Centre (CTCC) is the first building in Calgary and the province of Alberta, Canada to be certified “BOMA Go Green” in recognition of responsible environmental practices in building operations. For more information contact lindab@calgary-convention.com.

Calgary
e=mc2 event management inc. has expanded their operations to include a permanent office in Banff, Alberta. Jocelyn Flanagan, chief executive officer of e=mc2, announced that Erin O’Reilly has been appointed to oversee the Banff operation.


Vancouver
Speakers Spotlight announces the opening of their Western Canadian office in Vancouver, and the appointment of Belinda Miller-Foey as Vice President, Western Operations.


Toronto
Hilton International announces the immediate appointment of Armin Schroecker, general manager of the Hilton Toronto, to the position of regional director – Canada. In his new role Armin oversees the operations of the five Hilton International hotels in Canada, while he continues managing the Hilton Toronto.

PM GIGS received an industry nomination for “Agency of the Year” from the Western Canadian Music Awards. This is the fourth consecutive year PM GIGS has received a WCMA nomination in this category. Quebec
Over 100 journalists from Canada, Asia, Europe, and Latin America will convene in Québec City in 2008. The Québec City and Area Tourism Bureau is very happy with the joint Canadian Commission on Tourism and Tourism Industry Association of Canada decision to hold the July 2008 edition of the annual Carrefour GoMedia Canada Marketplace event at the Fairmont Le Château Frontenac, during Québec City’s 400th anniversary celebrations. The CEIA is a national award program which recognizes outstanding achievements in Canadian special events, meeting management, conference planning and exhibition management. The program is open to any Canadian company that has produced an event or qualifying element of an event within the eligibility period. Membership in any particular association is NOT a prerequisite.

Any Canadian-based company which has produced an event or qualifying element of an event between January 1, 2005 and December 31, 2005. All entries must be received by February 1st 2006 in order to qualify.

A minimum of two nominees in each award category will be selected from the entries submitted and The CSEME National Advisory Council will complete the final judging. Winners will be announced at the Gala Awards Dinner held March 24, 2006, in Toronto:
