In 1979, Brian Nelson took his experience as a project manager in advertising and design agencies and opened his first display company in Calgary. With the rapid growth of the tradeshow industry throughout the 1980’s, Nexus Exhibits Ltd. expanded to include in-house design services, graphic production, and portable display systems.
As much as pop-up display products appear common place today, Nexus Exhibits was the first to introduce the revolutionary Nomadic Instand; a self-locking, pop-up geodesic structure which redefined exhibit portability. The Instand 8’x 10’ backwall frame with graphics weighed just 25 lbs at a time when existing “portable” structures were 300 lbs. Visual presentation suddenly had an important ingredient: “convenience”. This opened new horizons for the entire tradeshow industry and Nexus grew and expanded to meet the new demands.
From a 400 sq. ft. office in Calgary’s Kensington district to a heritage building in the Beltline area, Nexus now operates out of a 13,000 sq. ft. building. The large showroom allows clients to not only see our range of products, but immediately acquaint themselves with the size of their booth space. The production area houses an array of graphic printers, while the staging area gives our clients the opportunity to familiarize themselves with their assembled display, prior to it going to the tradeshow or an event.
The warehouse facility adds the convenience of storing our clients’ displays, as well as providing fabrication services. As Brian Nelson, the President of Nexus states, “I believe that our success has come from our ability to deliver the best tradeshow solution to our clients often within short time frames. As well, our staff’s commitment to hard work, attention to detail, and customer service has contributed to our growth over these past 35 years.”
With a large list of clients in Oil & Gas and Agriculture, growth has also meant the widening of our client base. While our primary services encompass tradeshows, our designs include office interiors, meeting spaces, permanent & temporary signage, and display cases. We also work closely with advertising agencies and their clients to maintain a consistent branding message for all events at all levels, from large corporate displays to small recruitment programs.
At our current facility, Nexus Exhibits provides everything from graphic design, large format printing, portable displays and bannerstands, to custom exhibits and fabrication. We also provide shipping plus on-site install and dismantle labour. Simply put, we are a one stop shop for all display and event needs.
