Hosting in My Hometown Mississauga

By Jason Koop.

If you’ve never considered Mississauga as a host destination, I understand. Toronto throws a big shadow. Yet in the real world of producing events, where logistics, location, parking, travel, access to suppliers, vendors, and venues are all critical considerations, Mississauga is a better option.

Six largest by population in Canada, the City of Mississauga is more than just my hometown. It’s a diverse city with a flourishing multicultural food scene, fantastic shopping, hundreds of parks, and more recreational opportunities than most countries, including one of the best sport salmon fishing experiences in the world.

Home to more corporate head offices, pharmaceutical giants, and tech companies than just about any other community in the country and the largest, busiest, and most economically important airport, Pearson International.

Mississauga also boasts some of the most innovative, modern, and cutting-edge event spaces in Ontario, suitable for events of virtually any scale or size.

From the spectacular Living Arts Centre, a multi-purpose space designed to host everything from symphony spectacles to corporate meetings, conferences, and weddings, to large convention centres, like the Mississauga Convention Centre or The International Centre to intimate, interesting and unique spaces like the Small Arms Inspection Building, Harding Waterfront Estate or C-Banquets.

Mississauga is also home to hundreds of innovative event suppliers, offering everything you need to host a successful event, along with first-class accommodations ranging from four-star hotels to boutique inns and full-service properties.

But that’s not all. The last 12 months have been difficult and planners everywhere could use some help. This is exactly why Tourism Mississauga has launched its business EventHosting Incentive Program, designed to make your job as easy as possible. Providing third-party event organizers and corporate organizations financial support for conferences and events that bring direct or indirect economic, social, and community development benefits to the City of Mississauga.  To learn more click here

I wrote this article for a number of reasons with the most important being, to change some hearts and minds; because I know, if you’re not from the 905 you may not have considered Mississauga in the past and I want to change that starting today.
